Private & Semi-Private Lesson Cancellation and Rescheduling Policy

This policy does not apply to other programs.

  • Less than 24 hours before your lesson*

Cancellations or rescheduling requests made less than 24 hours before the scheduled lesson will not receive a refund or lesson credit. *Semi-Private Lessons, see below.

  • 24 hours to 7 days before your lesson

You may cancel or reschedule one lesson per purchased package as a one-time courtesy. Changes must be made through the customer portal.

  • 7 or more days before your lesson

You may cancel or reschedule your lesson through the customer portal without penalty. Please make changes only when necessary so lesson times remain available to other students.

  • *Semi-private lessons

If you cancel with less than 24 hours’ notice but before the scheduled start time of your lesson, you will lose the lesson credit. However, you may request a coupon code to use toward a future purchase.

The coupon code amount is calculated by subtracting the cost of a private lesson of the same length with the same instructor, as well as a $7.50 coupon code processing fee, from the total value of the canceled lesson.

    Example:
A one-hour Junior Semi-Private lesson for 4 juniors with Kevin costs $69 per person, for a total of $276.
  • Total value of the group lesson: $276
  • One-hour private lesson with Kevin: – $139
  • Coupon code processing fee: – $7.50
  • Coupon code value: $129.50

The resulting $129.50 coupon code may be used by you or someone else toward a future purchase.

Exceptions for Illness or Family Emergency

If you need to cancel due to illness and can provide a doctor’s note, or due to a death in the family, please contact us directly at kevinc@kevinchingolf.com before your scheduled lesson so we can assist you.

Group cancellations

Are decided by Kevin Chin Golf as early as we can. You will receive a rain credit that allows you to join another group with the same or lesser amount of time (based on availability). See your group’s rain policy.

We do not offer makeups for participant-initiated absences. If Kevin Chin Golf cancels a group for weather or another operational reason, the rain-credit/makeup rules above apply.

Private and Semi-private lessons: the cancellation policy is waived for inclement weather. You must contact us before your scheduled lesson. No more than 24 hours before, since weather reports change.

Group cancellations: As long as conditions are safe we run programs, sometimes even in rain! Temperature is typically not a consideration for canceling. Cancellations are decided by Kevin Chin Golf as early as we can. You will receive a credit that allows you to join another group with the same or lesser amount of time (based on availability). See your group’s rain policy. Bronxville Adult School may have a different policy.

During weather delays or bad weather, we may shift to putting, short game, rules, etiquette, scorekeeping, golf education, trivia, or other golf-related activities.

If the weather cancels a class, I will post a notice on my website, KevinChinGolf.com, and on my Twitter account, @kevinchingolf. You can also contact me via text at (914) 260-9459 or email. (you can also call, but I may not pick up my cell immediately if I’m on the golf course) All cancelled groups can make up the time at another group that is of the same or less time.

Generally once a group session begins we will not cancel. Only exception is our 6 hour camp options we will cancel half, giving you a 3 hour credit.

We don’t have a makeup policy. If you miss, no credit is given: Please note for any exceptions you must contact us in advance.

Holidays; If your group is scheduled on a holiday and you want to come to another group you must coordinate with us before you register to see if there is availability.

  • We meet at the Lake Isle golf shop, or in front of the shop on the right side of the driving range.
    • For Summer Camps 3:30 pm and earlier, we meet at the maintenance entrance/chipping green behind the New York Sports Club parking lot (see image below). For 3:30 pm and after, the meet-up is at the regular shop meeting place. *Note* if our lightning alarm is on, we will be at the golf shop. (914) 961-3453.
    • For winter classes, please use the covered stairs, rather than the hill. No cars in the upper lot.

Groups require a two-person minimum. If the minimum is not met, Kevin Chin Golf may offer a one-on-one session for half the originally scheduled group time, a switch into another group, or a refund.

PGA interns working towards their PGA status typically run these programs, assisted by our staff. The typical breakdown in what we do in a week is as follows (This is in no way a guarantee. This just a general idea):
● The first day of the week is mostly spent reviewing safety protocols, range etiquette, and (depending on course availability) on-course etiquette and pace of play. We also cover the logistics of where bathrooms are, snack bar, lounge areas etc.
● 30% on course (if available); 5% exercises (typical during weather delays)
● 25% range
● 30% short game (chipping + putting) (typical during weather delays)
● 10% golf trivia, rules and etiquette (typical during weather delays)

● We accommodate any level. We have a chipping green, putting green, driving range and also use of the Lake Isle golf course (when available).
● Junior groups may combine and/or overlap with different age groups.
● In the event of inclement weather we are prepared to spend up to approximately 25% of
the lesson time on material such as putting, learning the rules and etiquette of golf, score keeping, and/or watching golf educational content (YouTube, golf current events, golf trivia, etc.). However, because the weather is unpredictable and there may be bad weather for more than 25% of the lesson time, we may cancel classes and/or hold classes in bad weather under the canopy. For example, if there has been no rain Monday through Thursday, chances are Friday of that week will be held no matter how bad the weather. It’s possible we could cancel because of bad weather.
● Cancelled camps can come to another group to make up the time.
● If you miss on your own, we do not allow make ups.
● We have a snack bar that accepts cash or credit cards.
● We don’t provide transportation.

Programs led by staff during the school year:
These groups are a great opportunity for your child to get on the golf course, have fun, make friends, and build confidence. These programs have produced plenty of high level golfers, but our main goal is that they have fun and want to come back. This is not a mechanics driven instructional program. If you want that please check out private, semi-private lessons or groups that work directly with Kevin. Some students may like doing both a group with staff and a group with Kevin. Most of the staff are former participants in our programs and/or students of Kevin. You can check their bio’s on our staff page. They typically are high school age.

Groups taught by Kevin:
We are starting this program for those of you who haven’t been able to find availability on Kevin’s lesson schedule or kids that want more instruction than our other junior programs offer. These groups are for 2 to 4 students, are taught by Kevin, and run for longer periods than most of our other programs. This gives Kevin flexibility to cater to the students’ individual goals. (If there are 2 or less students, lesson time will be shorter).

Junior Interclub events involve outside host clubs, rosters, weather, and competition logistics. Weather changes or cancellations should be handled event-by-event by the host club.

Rosters are submitted to host clubs at least 24 hours before each event. For questions about eligibility, player selection, scheduling, or weather logistics, contact Kevin Chin Golf. Lake Isle members get first dibs on matches. If you join the team you are guaranteed to join match (may be an alternate, but you’ll play.)

  • Label your equipment.
  • Notify us of any allergies.
  • I’m scared to get on the course. What programs can get me out on the course?
    • Programs that typically get actual on-course experience the most are. Kids summer camps; for adults, we offer ladies clinics Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1130-130. And of course, if you want private or semi-private lessons, you can work on whatever you want, wherever. (when the course is available)
  • How long until I will be ready to get on the course?
    • Everyone is different, and kids and adults are especially different. My goal is to get you out there as soon as possible to get you comfortable. That being said, 1 full week of summer camp typically prepares the child to go play golf on a full course. Adults, if you can make your learning process as immersive as possible, that will help. Don’t just do 1 hour a lesson every other week. That would take forever. 2x a week for 3 weeks should get you comfortable enough to roll!
  • What about weather cancellations?
    • Private and semiprivate lessons: the decision is left up to you. Contact your instructor to confirm. Groups are decided by KCG staff and will notify you if canceled.
  • Do I need equipment?
    • We have some equipment for you to use, but it’s pretty limited for left-handers. We may even have something to give you. You need to have a club to practice with.
  • For camps, what’s the camper-to-counselor ratio?
    • Depends on the activity and temperament of the group. i.e., if I’m giving a chipping clinic, I may present to a large group by myself, but if the group is on the course, it won’t typically exceed 5 to 1.
  • Do you offer birthday parties or corporate clinics?
    • Yes, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us for details.
  • Can my kids be with their friends?
    • Almost always yes; mention it to the counselor at drop-off.
  • How can I inspire my kids to get into golf?
    • If they make friends who golf, you have a very good chance they will stick with it.
  • Can junior golf lead to long-term development?
    • Yes. Many students begin in camps or seasonal programs and continue into private lessons, Interclub, CIT, caddie opportunities, staff roles, or competitive golf.
